Antioch man dies in early morning crash

badge.jpgThe man killed in today’s 3:55 a.m. collision involving a delivery truck and a Ford Expedition on Murfreesboro Pike at Ezell Pike is identified as Marcus Frankie Cook, 30, of Hamilton Church Road.

The preliminary investigation shows that the International delivery truck, owned by Ryder Truck Rental and being driven by James Edward Corley, 53, of Murfreesboro, had just delivered packages to the post office and was stopped on Ezell Pike waiting to turn left onto Murfreesboro Pike. As the truck crossed the eastbound traffic lanes, the Ford collided into its side. The force of the crash caused the truck to overturn.
Cook died at the scene. Corley was not injured. Both men were wearing seatbelts.

The contributing factors(s) to this crash remain under investigation. Officers want to determine whether the 2011 truck failed to yield, whether the headlights on the 2005 Expedition were on, and conduct a speed analysis.
