Police to use fingerprints to ID murder victim

Fingerprint analysis will be used in an effort to identify a man found murdered this morning in a yard in the 2700 block of Old Smith Springs Road.

The victim, a black man believed to be in his 20s, suffered multiple gunshot wounds. There was no identification in his clothing, which included a black hooded AKOO sweatshirt and black sweatpants. He also had a tattoo on the inside of his left wrist.

The victim was discovered just before 6:30 a.m. by a man walking along Old Smith Springs Road. Witnesses in the area reported hearing sounds that may have been gunshots at around 1:05 a.m. Nearby Residents did not know of anyone living in the immediate area who matched the victim’s description.

Once the victim’s identity is established, Hermitage Precinct detectives will begin investigating his background and attempting to learn who he had been with on Saturday/early Sunday.
