Several cars stolen while warming up

badge.jpgA surge in some crimes was reported this week by the South Precinct of the Metro Nashville Police Department.

In their weekly report, for the week ending Saturday, January 9, Police noted several categories that had larger numbers than we normally see.

There were 27 residential burglaries reported this week. Six listed entry by window and 16 reports showed forced entry by the doorway.

There were also ten reports of cars stolen. Here’s the hard part. Four of the ten, the car was warming up and left unattended.

In his email, Sgt. Rafael Fernandez wrote, “You work hard for what you have.  Don’t let someone take it from you in a matter of seconds.”

There were also 25 thefts from motor vehicles. Items stolen included:

  • A wallet
  • Two car stereos
  • Cash
  • 2 tags/stickers
  • 2 purses
  • 2 listing tools
  • Copper wire
  • Ladders
  • Keys
  • Condoms
  • Flashlight
  • Taillights
  • Whiskey
  • 1 iPhone
  • 3 laptops/tablets

Also reported for the week were three commercial robberies, six street robberies, and three commercial burglaries.
