Weekend weather forecast remains slippery

The weekend forecast still looks, well, ugly.

After an estimated 9 inches accumulation in some areas, the snow has stopped falling in Antioch but with a high of 31 degrees and a low of 16 Saturday, you won’t see much melting and road conditions will remain pretty rough – more than 200 traffic accidents were reported in Nashville yesterday alone.

Sunday, the high should be 39 and Monday highs will reach to the 50s with a low of 39.

The weather storm warning for Middle Tennessee has been lifted.

Here are a few closings we know of today:

  • Ford Ice Center
  • 360 Burger
  • EAZE Custom Framing
  • Ensor’s Comfort Shoes
  • A Greener Way

The Southeast Branch Library is opening at 10 a.m. but is cancelling Saturday Story Time.

We have this note from Council Member Jacobia Dowell: Homelessness Commission asks for support at warming shelters. Certain Metro libraries and other buildings are being opened during the current weather emergency to provide warm shelter for the homeless. The Metropolitan Homelessness Commission is asking community members to provide hot beverages and snacks at those shelters – contact assistant director Judith Tackett at (615)880-2360 or [email protected] to participate.

Public works continues to try to get the streets cleared.

Citizens are encouraged to stay off the streets if possible.
