Local marching band lands scholarships, other kudos

The Rhythmic Ravens Marching Band, the high school band for Cane Ridge High School, have gotten used to kudos. They just keep piling up.

As the band prepares to head south to New Orleans to march in the Mardi Gras parade, the band has learned of a couple more “wins” to stick in their cap.

First, their band director, Johnny Croft, has been selected teacher of the year at Cane Ridge High School.

If that isn’t enough, the band also learned some other great news this week.

Six seniors in the band auditioned for the Alabama A&M Universities Band Program Wednesday. The outcome? All six were awarded scholarships!

The scholarship winners are Tania Canhola-Zarate, Zharia Martin,Damaris Guevara, Teshaun Foster, Yesenia Ciprian, and Hakim McCray.

Congratulations to them all.
