Jacobia Dowell, council member for District 32, announced last week on Twitter that the Nashville Symphony will play at the Southeast Park on Thursday, June 16.

“I have been looking for family friendly free events to bring to the area that will get people out this summer and have a little fun,” Dowell said.

“I am hoping we can have music in the park on various days throughout the summer highlighting various genres of music as well as movies on the lawn,” Dowell added. “I think it would be great since we have a lot of families.”

She added that Jason Parker, who handles community outreach for the Nashville Symphony, had a similar idea and was wants to connect with the community via community concerts.

“Parents are challenged with kids being bored,” Dowell said. “Children have lots of energy and always are looking for something to do. I am hoping we can get them outside, enjoy nature and engage in play.”
