Alcohol is suspected of playing a role in Sunday afternoon’s single-vehicle fatal crash on Anderson Road near Wilford Pack Drive that claimed the life of Pedro Cervantes Tierrafria, 36, of E. Trinity Lane.
Tierrafria was the passenger in a 2000 model Chevrolet pickup truck that ran off Anderson Road and struck a utility pole shortly before 1 p.m. Tierrafria and the driver, Nicholas Perez Parra, 46, of Cedarcreek Trail, were both rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where Tierrafria died and Parra is being treated for critical injuries.
Evidence of alcohol use was found at the scene. Parra is a twice convicted habitual motor vehicle offender and was driving on a revoked license. He was also convicted of second offense DUI in 2012. A blood sample from Parra will be analyzed by the MNPD Crime Laboratory for alcohol and drug content.
