Last weekend, officers working with local precincts and the Specialized Investigations Division (SID) targeted areas of Antioch in their efforts to combat gang activity and other issues related to quality of life.
On Friday three SID detectives, eight supervisors, eleven patrol officers, and one canine officer targeted the Murfreesboro Pike Corridor, along with Vultee Boulevard and Millwood Drive.
Saturday’s crackdown focused on Murfreesboro Pike and Hamilton Church Road, as well as Vultee Boulevard and Millwood Drive. Four detectives, five supervisors, and 22 officers focused on these areas Saturday.
The net outcome of this focus was 32 arrests, 39 misdemeanor charges, two felonies and 16 warrants served. They also seized 10.5 grams of marijuana and .1 gram of cocaine.
So far this year, the Operation Safer Streets gang enforcement and neighborhood safety initiative has resulted in 243 arrests on 14 felony charges and 233 misdemeanor charges, nine gun seizures, the service of 91 outstanding warrants, 22 field interviews of persons believed to have gang knowledge, and 1,235 vehicle stops in areas with a gang presence.
