Bargains galore on Murfreesboro Pike

olliesOllie’s Bargain Outlet has opened on Murfreesboro Pike in the old Target location. It has opened at 2383 Murfreesboro Pike, in the former Publix location next to Planet Fitness.

The store opened March 9. According to their website, the store is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Traded on the NASCAQ, Friday, Ollie’s stock closed at $21.26 per share. The company reported that for a nine-week period ending January 2, total sales increased 23 percent. Estimates for the fiscal year, which ended January 30, were for net sales of about $760 million, a 19 percent increase, and net income of $37 million.

Response when broke the news Ollie’s was coming was largely positive.

On Facebook, Duane Dominy, a former Metro Council Member, said, “I would strongly encourage those skeptical or worse to visit an Ollie‘s store. Besides the one’s listed in the story, there is also a location in Columbia. While it is a discount store, it is far from a “junk store” as some have referred to in other posts. The merchandise is top quality, often national brands.”
