Speeding main factor in I-24 motorcycle fatality

The motorcyclist killed late Wednesday night on I-24 west near Haywood Lane is identified as Labrone D. Willliams, 27, of Nashville.

The preliminary investigation shows that Williams was traveling at an extremely high rate of speed on a 2009 Suzuki motorcycle at 9:40 p.m. when a vehicle merged into Williams’ lane.  Due to the motorcycle’s excessive speed, Williams could not stop in time and veered into the retaining wall.  Williams was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died.  The vehicle that merged in front of the motorcycle was not located.

The primary contributing factor to the crash is speeding.  The investigation is continuing.
