Anyone who thinks Antioch is in decline isn’t paying much attention to what’s going on out there.
Yes, there are some problem areas, but the community has been a hotbed for development in the last couple of years and things are only going to pick up.
Waffle House, next to Thornton\’s on Bell Road, is expected to open at the end of April.
Recently, the former Sears building at the Global Mall at the Crossings sold to Crestview Funds, a Brentwood-based company, for $5 million. Reportedly the company has already been receiving interest from possible tenants.
Earlier this week, Floor & Décor opened to tremendous fanfare. Their opening, along with last month’s launch of Conn’s HomePlus, fills the vacancy created when Target left Antioch. Another vacant space, the former Office Depot location next to Bed, Bath and Beyond, is being filled by Bargain Hunt, a LaVergne-based discount retailer. The company is already advertising to fill various positions and is hoping to open later in May.
Ollie's Bargain Basement, 2383 Murfreesboro Pike, Now Open
Much of the growth in the Crossings, Bell Road, Hickory Hollow area is stemming from the Century Farms project, being developed by Oldacre McDonald. The mixed-use development will built behind Conn’s and Floor & Décor, and the completion of the Hickory Hollow interchange on Interstate 24 has been approved by the feds.
However, this is not the only area experiencing growth.
Murfreesboro Pike has seen its share of the action.
Just a few months ago, Dollar Tree opened behind Starbucks and Ruby Tuesday. This investment was a new construction.
Zaxby’s is preparing to open in the form Razz’s location at 2241 Murfreesboro Road. Unconfirmed reports place the total investment at about $3 million. This will be its second Antioch location.
Also recently opened, and seeing brisk business, was Ollie’s Bargain Basement, at 2383 Murfreesboro Pike.
Another exciting opening is … Waffle House. According to Benjamin Boyd, Division Manager for Waffle House, the new restaurant on Bell Road next to Thornton’s, should open at the end of April. Garland Young will be the restaurant manager.
