Man killed in motorcycle wreck identified

Friday, the motorcyclist killed Tuesday evening on I-24 near Bell Road after he struck a guardrail while traveling at a high rate of speed was identified as Jacob Steelman, 21, of Lavergne, Tennessee.

According to witnesses, Steelman appeared to be racing an SUV when he lost control of his 2016 Honda CVR.  He died at the scene.  The driver of the SUV stopped, got out of the vehicle, and searched through Steelman’s pockets before driving off. Officers are working to identify this man/driver.

There was no evidence of alcohol or drug involvement at the scene.
