Farmer’s market, school board, and more on tap this week

One of the great things about Antioch is, if you look, there is lots to do right here at home.

Friday night, my family along with my niece, participated in Family Paint Night at Antioch’s EAZE Custom Framing on Murfreesboro Pike. What a GREAT way to spend some time with the family doing something a little different. We all – including the six-year-old – came away with our own paintings.

Not only was it fun, but we were able to invest in a local business and keep our entertainment dollars right here at home.

There are a few local items on the agenda this week Antioch, so let’s break out those planners and take a look.

We start the week with the Southeast Farmer’s Market from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, at the Southeast Park, adjacent to the Southeast Branch Library. Sponsored by CNAP, organizers have worked hard to revamp the market and bring plenty of new vendors in, so head on down and enjoy a bit of time in the outdoors while picking up some great fresh produce and local goods.

The Metropolitan Public Schools Board of Education holds a regular meeting at 5 p.m. Tuesday at 2601 Bransford Avenue. You may check out the agenda here.

There are two free movie opportunities on Friday.

First, the Drive-In Matinee will be at the Southeast Branch Library at 2 p.m. They show a kid-friendly movie and offer light refreshments.

Later that evening, Ford Ice Center offers Movies in the Park, sponsored by Bridgestone. The park opens at 7 p.m. and the movie will start at sundown, just after 8 p.m. Free soda and popcorn is offered and the Ford Ice Center is open until 11 p.m. for skating.

Don’t forget that next Monday is July 4. Government offices, including the library and community center, many businesses, as well as the Southeast Nashville Farmer’s Market, will all be closed.
