The week ahead: Council, meet the director, and a health fair

Good morning Antioch and happy Tuesday. I hope everyone had a terrific and safe three day weekend and was able to celebrate Independence Day with friends and family.

We have a short week this week, but no shortage of important events and activities taking place.

First, the Metro Council meets tonight (Tuesday) at 6:30 in the David Scobey Council Chambers at One Public Square downtown. You may view the agenda here.

Saturday gets quite busy for Antioch.

The All about Women Health Fair will be from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Southeast Regional Community Center. Organizers are council members Karen Johnson, Tanaka Vercher, and Jacobia Dowell and a variety of tests and information for women will be available.

Also Saturday, School Board Member Will Pinkston will host a town hall meeting with new Director of Schools Dr. Shawn Joseph. It is at 9 a.m. at Casa Azafran, 2195 Nolensville Pike. This is the ideal time to hear from the new director personally.

Also, don’t forget that every Friday, the Library has a free kids movie with popcorn starting at 2 p.m.

Weather wise, it’s going to be a bit of a rough week. With the exception of Friday, which will be partly sunny, expect rain most days this week. Tuesday will have a high of 86, but expect highs in the mid-90s the rest of the week.

We do our best to keep the Antioch Calendar up to date, and there are always far more events listed there than you see in this story. If you know of an event, feel free to email the particulars to [email protected]
