More than 700 people attended Sunday’s Back to School Community Day at Southeast Park, next to the Southeast Branch Library, making it a huge success.
According to organizers Dee Davis and LeTicia Taylor, more than 500 backpacks and “tons of supplies, free food, and chilled water” was given away.
Taylor thanked the 40 vendors and more than 30 volunteers who helped to make the event a huge success.
In addition to the items given away, there were games, inflatables, crafts inside the Southeast Branch Library, WellChild Checks, health exams and much more.
This is the second year the event was held.
