Cane Ridge dominates Antioch in opener

The battle for 37013 was held Friday as Cane Ridge High School and Antioch High School faced off in their regular season openers.

Cane Ridge commanded the entire game, coming away with a 39-0 victory of the Antioch Bears.

The Raves of Cane Ridge took command early in the game, scoring 20 unanswered points in the first quarter. They then scored six in the second, seven in the third, and six in the fourth quarter of this non-conference game.

According to MaxPreps, despite the win, Cane Ridge falls to 15th in the state, down from 13th entering the game.

Raven quarterback DJ Thorpe threw 14 completions on 19 attempts for 118 yards with no interceptions. E’Mari Barton led rushing with 7 carries, 77 yards and one touchdown. Jordan Bell carried the ball 11 times for 64 yards, and two touchdowns. Jared McCray scored two touchdowns and gained 58 yards on two receptions.

The Bears struggled all night on offense, gaining only 98 yards on the night, 71 of which were passing.

Cane Ridge goes to 1-0 and Antioch is 0-1 on the season.

In other Antioch football news, Ezell-Harding Christian School fell to Middle Tennessee Christian School 30-15 to open the season 0-1. Also, Lighthouse Christian School defeated Springfield’s South Haven Christian School.
