It is one of six Tennessee locations and one of 64 nationwide being closed.
Clearance and inventory reductions sales are expected to start September 22 and the store should be closed sometime in December.
While this is a blow to the community, work continues on the Century Farms Development, which includes the former Target location and lands behind it.
According to David Young, COO of developer Oldacre-McDonald, work will be beginning soon on the Interstate 24 exit at Hickory Hollow Parkway. He also said recently that they are talking to potential retailers weekly, though due to confidentiality agreements they cannot name specific possibilities at this time.
Young also said that most retailers will wait until the interchange in completed, which is likely to be in 2018.
