The Week Ahead: Farmer’s Market, school board, and Friday night football

Fall Break is almost here, but before we get there (its next week), we have one more week to get through.

The final Southeast Farmer’s Market of the season is Monday from 4 – 7 p.m. It will be held at the Southeast Branch Library, under the awning. There will be tons of local produce, food, and goods available, so head on down and let them end the season on a high note.

The Metro Public Schools Board of Education will meet Tuesday at 5 p.m. The meeting is held at 2601 Bransford Avenue and the agenda may be viewed at this link.

Learn about Hispanic cultures through stories, music and dance with Rachel Rodriguez. She is a singer, songwriter, mother and creative movement and music teacher. Rachel recently released a bilingual children’s album, “Songs for My Little Amigos”. Children of all ages are welcome. The event is at the Southeast Branch Library starting at 10:30 a.m. It is free to the public.

There will be two meetings Saturday to discuss the possibility of areas of Antioch being annexed into the Urban Services District, from the General Services District. The first meeting is at 10 a.m. at Lakeshore Christian Church at 5434 Bell Forge Lane East. This one is for Districts 4, 31, 32, and 33. A second meeting for District 33 will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Long Hunter State Park, 2910 Hobson Pike.

Finally, Friday night football action.

  • Cane Ridge (6-0) will host Hunters Lane (1-5) in its homecoming game.
  • Ezell-Harding Christian School (4-3) is also holding its homecoming game Friday against Franklin Road Academy (0-5).
  • Lighthouse Christian School (3-1) plays host to Lighthouse Christian Academy (5-1).
  • Antioch High School (1-4) will visit Franklin High School (4-1).
