The woman killed in today’s 3 a.m. two-car crash on Bell Road at Harbor Lights Drive is identified as Tecoria Benson, 32, of Bryan Street.
Benson was traveling north on Bell Road in her 2006 Nissan Maxima when she left the roadway on her right side, over corrected, and struck a southbound 1999 Mazda Protégé driven by Evelio Gomez, 41, of Bell Road.
Benson, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene. Gomez sustained non-life threatening injuries. His sister and front seat passenger, Yaelaine Hernandez, was critically injured. Both were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
There is no evidence of drug or alcohol involvement on the part of Gomez. Toxicology testing is being conducted to determine whether drug or alcohol involvement by Benson played a role in this fatal crash.
