The National Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado touched down today in the Antioch area of Cane Ridge, causing damage on Pettus Road.
It was categorized as an EF-1 tornado, and one of similar strength also touched down this morning in Williamson County. Watertown in Wilson County also suffered tornado damage.
While most of Antioch was spared the worst, there was heavy wind damage reported at Four Corners Marina. Several boats were damaged but no injuries were reported.
At one point, the Nashville Fire Department received 23 calls for downed power lines and earlier, some 18,000 Nashville Electric Service Customers were without power.
A tornado warning was issued this morning and Antioch-area schools went into their tornado emergency procedures. While there were no delays to start times, Metro Nashville Public Schools have said that no tardies will count if the student was late due to weather.
