Man arrested for putting dog in trash compactor in Antioch

Specialized Investigations Division detectives this afternoon charged Terrence J. Clark with aggravated animal cruelty for putting a Shih Tzu dog in an apartment complex trash compactor and activating the machine multiple times.

Terrence J. Clark, 27

The Nashville Fire Department was called to Arbor Hills Apartments on Arbor Knoll Boulevard in Antioch on February 21st to rescue the dog after a resident heard it whimpering and barking from inside the compactor.  Surveillance video showed Clark pull up in a car, remove the dog from the back seat, put it in a plastic grocery bag, and then place it in the trash compactor.  Clark is then seen to push the compactor button four times before returning to his car and driving away.

The dog was rushed to a veterinarian.  It died four days later.  The investigation showed the dog belonged to Clark’s mother.

Clark, 27, is jailed in lieu of $65,000 bond.
