A great day to clean Antioch

Saturday rose bright and sunny and while some of us were sleeping in, there were several groups of youth and adults who were out cleaning and improving the neighborhood.

Groups included Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and concerned citizens.

Council Member Jacobia Dowell and Beautification Commissioner Moynette Gore held one of their regular clean-up and bulk item drop off days Saturday and the results were spectacular.

Antioch has a messy problem and that problem is illegal dumping. But it is more than shoving a mattress out of the back of a pick up truck. Drive around our community and you see the results of people who lack the civic pride to properly dispose of their trash.

What’s odd is people like Dowell and Gore, along with other council members and beautification commissioners, are working hard to keep Antioch clean and make it convenient to dispose of unwanted and waste items.

Check AntiochTenn.com regularly to learn when a community clean up near you is being held. Civic-minded volunteers who care about their communities are always wanted.
