TriStar Health System is expanding its presence in the Antioch area with a new TriStar Simulation Learning Center (SLC), which will be located at Crossings Place.
The facility, which is already being built out, is expected to be open in this June.
According to Kimberly T. Johnson, the Director of Marketing and Communications for TriStar Health System, more than 100 nurse residents are in the current cohort, with a second cohort coming in during July.
She said the center will also serve as a key resource to nearly 4,000 nurses in the TriStar Health System, which also includes TriStar Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green, Ky. She added that another 2,000 nurses at sister facilities in Chattanooga and North Georgia can also call upon the SLC as a resource.
“This is a significant investment that includes custom center design and construction, simulation equipment, and technology for training and interconnectivity among our 22 hospitals in three states,” Johnson said.
The final price of the build-out is still being finalized along with certain details.
The site will be led by Justin Laferty, RN, who will serve as director of the SLC. Laferty was a nurse leader at TriStar Southern Hills Medical Center and brings six years as a nurse/nurse leader and four years as a military combat medic to the table. Laferty will provide day-to-day operational oversight, providing ongoing learning and professional development for TriStar nurses at all stages in their careers.
Additionally, he’ll oversee a staff of seven team members working within the SLC and on-site at various TriStar facilities, according to Johnson.
According to the HCA TriStar Nurse Residency website, the facility will include:
- 6 classrooms
- 9 low-fidelity simulation beds
- 6 high-fidelity simulation rooms
- 3 instructor control rooms
- 2 conference rooms
- 2 debriefing rooms
There will also be a training room for resuscitation classes for BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification.
TriStar Health System has a significant and growing presence in the Antioch community.
TriStar Medical Group Family Practice at the Crossings joined the Antioch community when it opened its doors in July 2016 at 5380 Hickory Hollow Parkway, Suite 100. The also operate Family Practice at Cane Ridge, located at 3534 Murfreesboro Pike, Suite 104, near Publix.
Community and business leader Ben Freeland noted that the HCA TriStar investment in Antioch is having a significant impact in other ways.
“Having HCA TriStar invest in this medical plaza as well as the $200 million-plus they invested in their data center is key validation that leads the way for all the additional companies investing in our area,’ Freeland said. He pointed out that some of those companies include Asurion, Community Health Systems, Drake Software, Bridgestone, Calvary Logistics, and LKQ.
