LCS Boys Soccer wins state title

Updated: 7:40 p.m.  Lighthouse Christian School of Antioch, Tennessee made school history today, winning the TACS Boys Soccer State Championship!

The team was undefeated all season as well as undefeated throughout the tournament. “The boys worked great together this year as a team, said Coach John Yancey. They communicated, worked hard and won a championship that was filled with talented teams!”

Today’s championship game, played at Franklin Road Christian School in Murfreesboro, TN was an intense game. The team played Berean Christian Academy from Chattanooga, Tennessee. The game was played ending with double overtime and then a shoot-out! Chris Martinez from Lighthouse stopped 5 balls from being scored in the shoot-out round. The final score was 3-2 Lighthouse.

Seniors Austin Lance, Dang Aguto as well as LCS players Andrew Chaney and Chris Martinez were awarded the All-Tournament team award. Senior Jon Yancey received the Tournament MVP award.

“We are so proud of our LCS Boys Soccer team, said Brian Sweatt, LCS Headmaster. They exemplify the character and integrity we want to see in our students. This historical win is a great testament to the program that Coach Yancey has built at Lighthouse.”

Lighthouse Christian School has been in existence for 40 years. The school is located in Antioch Tennessee with students from Preschool – 12 grade. LCS has won several state championships in several sports, but this is the first for Boys Soccer.
