Two South Precinct Officers receive sergeant promotions

Two officers in the South Precinct, which serves most of Antioch and then some, are being promoted to sergeant effective July 1.

Officer Paul Goebel, an 8-year MNPD veteran who is presently assigned to the South Precinct, is one officer being promoted. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Grand Valley State University.

Also earning a promotion out of the South Precinct is Detective John Vandenberg, a 7-year MNPD veteran who is presently assigned to South Precinct Investigations. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from MTSU.

Other officers in MNPD being promoted to sergeant are:

  • Officer James Boone, a 16-year MNPD veteran who is presently a school resource officer at Hunters Lane High School. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Bethel University.
  • Detective Larry Cahill, a 9-year MNPD veteran who is presently assigned to the Domestic Violence Division. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Northern Arizona University.
  • Officer Ian Herlein, an 18-year MNPD veteran who is presently assigned to the East Precinct. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Southeastern Louisiana University.
  • Detective Jill Weaver, a 17-year MNPD veteran who is presently assigned to the Homicide-Cold Case Unit. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Kentucky Wesleyan College.

Specific assignments for the new sergeants are to be determined. All are filling vacancies.
