The motorcyclist killed last week in a crash in the 3500 block of Bell Road is believed to be a 23-year-old man who lived in Hermitage.
He was not carrying identification and confirmation of his identity could not be made at the scene.
The victim was riding a 2012 Kawasaki motorcycle south on Bell Road at 12:45 p.m. on August 5 when he began to pass other vehicles in a bicycle lane. When he returned to the traffic lane, he saw a pickup truck making a U-turn.
Due to his speed, the motorcyclist was unable to control the Kawasaki and hit the pickup truck. The motorcyclist died at the scene. The driver of the pickup truck, Donald Gutknecht, 60, of Alabama, was not injured. Officers determined that his U-turn was legal.
