The District 33 special election runoff is scheduled for Tuesday, September 19. Early voting will be August 30 through September 14, and there will be no voting on Labor Day (Sept. 4).
The runoff election was triggered when none of the five candidates for the Metro Council District 33 seat, vacated by Sam Coleman when he was appointed judge, won more than 50 percent of the vote. As a result, the top two vote earners, Tim Herndon and Antoinette Lee, are facing each other in the runoff.
Local community group Southeast Nashville United is planning to host a forum with both candidates at 6:45 p.m., Thursday, September 7, in the Cane Ridge High School auditorium.
SENU’s election forums are always well attended and feature good conversations among candidates answering thought-provoking questions. It is an excellent time to learn more about both candidates.
