It wasn’t exactly smooth sailing, though: Miranda ate Carrie’s breakfast yogurt and banana (“All you used to have for breakfast was a cigarette”), and Carrie also got an eyeful when a sleepy Miranda walked to the bathroom in the morning —totally nude, except for a pair of socks.

Cynthia Nixon, who plays Miranda, bared all on a regular basis on the original Sex and the City, and “she was totally game” this time around, too, according to executive producer Julie Rottenberg, who directed this week’s episode. (“God bless Cynthia Nixon,” she adds. “I applaud her.”) Miranda and Carrie have “spent a lot of time together,” the EP points out, and “we decided they’ve lived together in the past,” and “Miranda, it turns out, occasionally sleeps in the nude.”
Well, except for those socks, which were a sticking point on set, Rottenberg remembers: “We needed socks that you could see in that dark shot… Time was a-ticking, and it was like, we’re not shooting the scene without the socks.” Socks or no socks, Carrie did seem a little surprised to see Miranda waltzing around in the nude, the EP acknowledges: “Maybe this is just yet another way that them living together in their 50s, it’s a little different from when they were younger.”
