Apple TV+ has announced a new season for one of its most beloved titles.

On Tuesday, Apple announced that it has renewed the darkly comic spy series Slow Horses for seventh season. The announcement comes several months before the premiere of the show’s fifth season, which drops on Sept. 24.

Slow Horses, based upon the series of novels by Mick Herron, follows Gary Oldman’s taciturn, crude Jackson Lamb, who leads a group of MI5 rejects known as the “Slow Horses” which includes River Cartwright (Jack Lowden), Roddy Ho (Christopher Chung), Louisa Guy (Rosalind Eleazar), and Catherine Standish (Saskia Reeves). The gang finds themselves in the high-stakes world of international espionage, often at a disadvantage to their more skilled peers.

“Slow Horses has won fans all over the world with its unique mix of self-deprecating British humor and high-octane action,” said Jay Hunt, creative director, Europe, for Apple TV+. The executive cited “Gary’s magnificent performance as Jackson Lamb alongside the Slow Horses slightly inept spycraft” as one of the reasons for the show’s enduring success.

Premiere dates for the sixth and seventh seasons have yet to be announced. The sixth season will reportedly follow the gang after they get on the wrong side of the law, though a synopsis for the seventh season hasn’t been revealed. The third season of Slow Horses received nine Primetime Emmy Award nominations, winning for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series, while Oldman has been widely praised for his performance.
