Subsea technology solutions provider Ashtead Technology has announced a partnership with Ocean Science Consulting (OSC) to deliver integrated environmental monitoring, mitigation solutions and compliance services for the offshore energy sector.

The alliance will enable oil and gas and offshore wind developers to access a full suite of services to monitor and mitigate the environmental impact of subsea operations.

Ashtead Technology will handle the deployment of subsea technology, while OSC will contribute expertise in compliance strategies, underwater noise monitoring, data analysis and regulatory reporting.

OSC managing director Victoria Todd said: “This partnership significantly enhances our ability to deliver end-to-end support for clients in both offshore wind and traditional energy sectors.

“With Ashtead Technology managing logistics and equipment, we can concentrate on our scientific core: designing compliance strategies, analysing environmental data, and delivering credible reporting and journal papers to support licences and regulatory submissions.”

Offshore energy projects including decommissioning, cable laying and wind turbine installation must consider the effects of subsea noise on marine life.

The partnership ensures that clients can confidently meet environmental regulations with support throughout the offshore asset life cycle.

OSC has more than two decades of experience in supporting offshore energy clients with compliance advice, licensing processes and environmental monitoring.

Ashtead Technology offers the largest independent fleet of subsea equipment. The company's teams are equipped to maintain, deploy and support high-spec equipment in challenging offshore environments, stated the company.

Ashtead Technology Asset Integrity head Ross MacLeod said: “Our clients in offshore wind and oil and gas are under growing pressure to deliver low-impact operations that meet stringent environmental expectations.

“Together with OSC, we are removing the complexity from marine compliance – delivering an unrivalled integrated offering to protect marine ecosystems.”

In November 2024, Ashtead Technology acquired Seascan and its subsidiaries (known as Seatronics) and J2 Subsea in a deal worth £63m ($81.6m).

"Ashtead, OSC collaborate on integrated environmental monitoring solutions for offshore energy" was originally created and published by Offshore Technology, a GlobalData owned brand.
