Floaters, grab a life vest! Rachel Reilly made her triumphant return to Big Brother during Thursday's Season 27 premiere. Now, we'll see whether she slides her way into a powerhouse alliance or winds up as public enemy number one.

Heading into Sunday, Vince Panaro claimed victory in the season's first Head of Household competition, earning safety for the opening week of Big Brother 27. Host Julie Chen Moonves then dropped a bombshell, revealing that Vince must nominate three houseguests for eviction due to last year’s twist — the AI Arena — now being a permanent fixture under the new name, the BB Blockbuster.

Adding to the drama, the mysterious Mastermind introduced a sneaky twist: there’s a secret "Accomplice" lurking among the houseguests. This covert player has been assigned a series of tasks to complete while hiding in plain sight. The houseguests now have until Sunday to uncover the Accomplice’s identity — or risk having them remain in the house as a permanent player.

In our Thursday recap, we asked readers to weigh in: who do you think the Accomplice is? If the house is as clueless as we are, the snake in the grass won’t be going anywhere. All 17 houseguests received votes, with Vince emerging as the most suspicious, according to 13 percent of fans. He was closely followed by Morgan Pope with 10 percent and Keanu Soto with nine percent of the votes. Will the houseguests crack the case, or is the Accomplice poised to make a deeper mark in the game?

Read on for our recap of Big Brother Season 27, Episode 2 to find out who was nominated for eviction, if the Accomplice was discovered, and how Rachel's iconic arrival impacted the game. This season's theme is the "Summer of Mystery" and the house has been transformed into the Hotel Mystère, where secrets lurk behind every corner. The hunt for the Accomplice

We pick up where Thursday left off — with the aftermath of Vince's HOH win, Rachel's arrival, and the announcement of the Accomplice. Finally, the houseguests are able to settle in and really get to know each other.

After picking their jaws up off the floor, the houseguests immediately begin speculating about the identity of the Accomplice. Rachel, determined to channel her inner “super sleuth” to gain some much-needed footing in the game, zeros in on Will as her first suspect. Meanwhile, Mickey starts raising eyebrows about Ava, who has been pulling people aside for private conversations — could she be the one hiding in plain sight? As whispers ripple through the house, attention turns to Keanu, but the spotlight quickly shifts to Zae and Rylie. The two, suspicious of one another, begin building their own armies for the impending vote — but there's not much evidence to support either of them being the Accomplice. Lauren and Mickey think the Accomplice is a woman since their is an extra girl in the house now that Rachel has arrived.

The Accomplice revealed ...

The votes have been tallied and five went to Zae, while 11 cast their vote for Rylie. The drama reached a fever pitch as the Mastermind revealed that Rylie is not the Accomplice, leaving the game to continue with 17 houseguests. While the real Accomplice remains a secret inside the house, Rylie is already feeling the weight of the vote. With a target now firmly planted on his back, the question lingers — is he already damaged goods, or can he recover from the hit?

While the house remains in the dark, viewers get exclusive behind-the-scenes intel: the true Accomplice is none other than Amy! Completely under the radar, she’s masterfully avoided suspicion as the houseguests chase shadows in all the wrong places. Will Amy’s perfect cover hold up, or does her secret role come with unexpected risks? Expect the unexpected!

You know who wasn't surprised? Super sleuths at home who sent the internet on fire when they saw Amy carrying something "suspicious" in her pocket.

Getting to know you

Halfway through the second episode, the houseguests finally sit down to introduce themselves. Jimmy is the first to (privately) make it clear he wants Rachel out of the house ASAP! "You already got your bag, sorry girl!"

On the showmance radar, Rylie seems smitten by multiple women in the house — but nobody else seems willing to show their cards just yet. You know it's coming!

The Have-Nots ... are safe!

The Hotel Mystère "Management" delivers a surprising message, announcing that Rachel, as a late arrival to the house, must stay in the Have-Not room for the week. However, there’s a silver lining — Rachel will be comped for her first week, earning safety from eviction along with three other Have-Nots. With the power in her hands, Rachel chooses Will, knowing he’s a fan of hers. Will then selects Zach, who, in turn, picks Ava to round out the group. Just like that, Rachel, Will, Zach, and Ava secure their safety for the week, setting the stage for the rest of the houseguests to scramble as they face the pressure of nomination. Jimmy is furious and let's everyone know, despite her safety, Rachel has to be their prime target.

Rachel: An asset or a liability

Jimmy has launched a one-man campaign to turn the entire house against Rachel, determined to paint her as a threat that needs to be eliminated sooner rather than later. However, Morgan sees things differently. Why not capitalize on Rachel's experience and strategic prowess, then cut her loose when the timing is right? Meanwhile, as the house whispers about Rachel, Will and Zach are quietly building a connection with her. Zach, in particular, is inspired by Rachel’s story — not only did she win the game, but she also found the love of her life, Brendan, during her time in the house. Now, Zach has his eye on Lauren. Could sparks fly between the two, and will they become the season’s first showmance? Only time will tell.

Zach's secret power

Zach is pulled into the Diary Room and receives a secret message. Anytime before jury, Zach can use the $10,000 he won to buy his safety and force the reigning HOH to pick a new houseguest for eviction. If he doesn't have to use it, he keeps it! This is a major advantage for Zach — he basically got a free pass to jury as long as he keeps the target off his back for a few weeks.

Watch out for the Mom Squad!

Jimmy has quickly formed a connection with Morgan and Mickey — locking in the season's first three-person alliance. Next, the houseguests all head up to Vince's HOH room, getting their first look at his luxurious digs.

Meanwhile, Rachel is also hard at work building her network, forming her first official alliance with Amy. The two instantly hit it off and this could be the duo we've been waiting for — the “Mom Squad.” Though they may laugh about the name, they’re under no illusions — these moms are here to play. Rachel tells Amy their strategy is simple: let the 20-somethings get distracted by each other, pair off into showmances, and lose focus on the game, just like she did during her first stint in the house. With their sights set on a long-term strategy, Rachel and Amy may just be the duo to watch.

Showergate!

Ashley stirs up unexpected drama by helping herself to Vince’s HOH room — taking a shower before Vince even gets to use it himself (gasp!). What was intended as a harmless move quickly spirals into the season’s first major scandal. Word travels fast, and soon, the house is buzzing. Amy pulls Ashley aside to let her know that people are talking, leaving Ashley completely gobsmacked. Determined to clear the air, Ashley confronts Katherine, assuming she had a hand in the gossip. Katherine, who wasn’t bothered before, is now irritated by Ashley’s attempt to pin her down and "stir the pot."

Breaking up the bromance ... and a Final Two pact

It’s no shocker that Jimmy is the first houseguest having a private strategy session with Vince. Jimmy is clearly a puppet master in the making, and Vince is eager to work with the calculating strategist. During their chat, Jimmy assures Vince that he can “wash his hands” of any decisions he makes about nominations because "everyone has two chances to save themselves."

Jimmy also brings up the classic Big Brother trope: every season has a “guys alliance” of buff bros. Jimmy sees the bromance forming between Zae, Keanu, Rylie, and Zach and decides the cleanest way to disrupt their alliance is by targeting Zae this week.

Later, Vince approches Kelley, confessing not only that he wants to work with her but even proposing a Final Two deal. Whoa! Pump the brakes, Vince — it’s early days! Taking his enthusiasm a step too far, Kelley shocks him right back by offering to go up on the block as a pawn to keep their partnership under wraps. Pawns go home, Kelley!

Nominations

After Vince has a round-robin of conversations, the time finally comes for him to throw three houseguests on the block. He chooses Zae, Amy and Ashley. Why? Zae is clearly a physical threat. Ashley's name was already swirling after "Showergate" and her paranoia left Vince feeling like she doesn't trust him. As for Amy — her adamant support of Ashley proved to be her downfall. Vince realized that if Amy will be upset with him for nominating Ashley anyway, why not throw her on the block as well?

Next up, Amy, Ashley, and Zae will have their first chance to save themselves in Wednesday's Power of Veto competition. Vince says he's fine with either Zae or Ashley going home this week, but he's about to catch major heat from Amy. Let the drama unfold!
