Chicago Star calls St. Louis a ‘perfect weekend getaway’ from the Windy City

ST. LOUIS – The Chicago Star, a Chicago-based travel and lifestyle publication, recently praised St. Louis as a “perfect weekend getaway” from the Windy City.

Catie Keogh, a WGN personality and travel enthusiast, praised St. Louis for its mix of iconic landmarks, engaging attractions and upscale accommodations, making it a prime destination for a quick, yet memorable road trip.

“St. Louis is the perfect blend of culture and style,” said Keogh in her recent Chicago Star report.

Following her latest visit to St. Louis, Keogh shared her top recommendations for travelers looking to plan a short stay.

She booked a room at the Four Season Hotel, enjoying views of the Gateway Arch and Mississippi River and also staying close to the city’s entertainment and restaurant scenes.

Keogh highlighted several popular dining spots, including Ramsay’s Kitchen, the Cinder House, and eateries inside The City Foundry. She also highlighted Olive and Oak in nearby Webster Groves, touting the City of St. Louis and the region for its wide array of food options.

For attractions, some of her recommended spots included the Missouri Botanical Garden, the St. Louis Art Museum and Union Station. She also encouraged visitors to find some hidden gems, such as the Hearth and Soul fashion shop in Ladue and The Spa at the Four Seasons Hotel.

Keogh said her visit was part of a girls’ weekend, but added that St. Louis is also well-suited for a romantic getaway or anyone looking to explore a city with charm, culture and convenience.

“We’ll definitely be back to try the abundance of things we couldn’t fit into our weekend,” said Keogh.

The road trip to Chicago is around 300 miles, or roughly a five-hour drive, from St. Louis.
