Crazy Rich Asians star Henry Golding recently offered an update on the long-awaited television series based on the hit 2018 film. Henry Golding has confirmed that a Crazy Rich Asians television series is officially in development. During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Golding said, “Something’s being made. I think we’re actually going to do a series. That’s what they’re trying to give us. Aiming for like first quarter, even, next year.”
This marked the first confirmation from an original cast member regarding involvement in the project. Golding also revealed that scripts for the series exist but have not yet been shared with him. “There are scripts hanging around but they haven’t been passed on yet. I haven’t read anything, but I hear it’s promising,” he said.

Lim, who departed the film sequel over pay disparity concerns, has since written Raya and the Last Dragon and directed Joy Ride. Director Jon M. Chu is also returning as executive producer. He directed the 2018 film and most recently helmed Wicked.
This is the first official timeline mentioned publicly. If filming begins in early 2026, the series could potentially premiere in late 2026 or 2027, depending on production schedules. However, if Golding’s reference to “first quarter next year” meant filming in the second half of 2025, a 2026 premiere remains possible.
The original Crazy Rich Asians film, based on Kevin Kwan’s novel, was released in 2018. Though sequels based on China Rich Girlfriend and Rich People Problems were announced, no film follow-up has entered production. It remains unclear whether other cast members, including Michelle Yeoh, Constance Wu, or Awkwafina, will return for the series.
