Morgan had been the co-host of GMA3 alongside Eva Pilgrim.
Earlier on Monday, Pilgrim was announced as the new anchor of Inside Edition, the syndicated CBS newsmagazine. And last year Dr. Jen Ashton, who had been a co-host of the show since 2020, exited ABC to launch a health and wellness brand.
With Morgan and Pilgrim out, ABC will need to reboot the program once more, which launched with Michael Strahan and Sara Haines in 2018; rebooted in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic; and rebooted once more in 2023 with Morgan, Pilgrim and Ashton. The trio replaced T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach, who exited ABC News in 2022.

ABC News has been quietly expanding its bench at GMA, with a number of correspondents and some outside talent joining Strahan, Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos at the anchor desk, as well as taking turns on GMA3. That has included ABC talent like Gio Benitez, James Longman and Rachel Scott, as well as personalities from ABC sister network ESPN, with Malika Andrews and Joe Buck among the hosts set to fill in on the morning show.
Whether any of the guest hosts secure a permanent spot on GMA3 remains to be seen. Roberts joined GMA from ESPN, while Strahan was an established sports media personality before joining the show.
