Jennifer Aniston's Next Role Raises Questions About the Fate of 'The Morning Show'

Apple TV+ officially confirmed a new Jennifer Aniston project on July 1, but it's creating confusion about the status of her critically acclaimed series, The Morning Show.
Aniston will star and executive produce a hybrid comedy-drama based on former Nickelodeon star Jennette McCurdy's memoir, I'm Glad My Mom Died. The good news is that the commitment to the new show shouldn't prohibit the Emmy Award-winning actress from starring on a fifth season of her current series, according to Deadline.
Even though The Morning Show hasn't been picked up for Season 5 yet, the media outlet also reported that a fifth season order is "fully expected." The fourth season premieres on Apple TV+ on Sept. 17.

In addition to Aniston's participation in I'm Glad My Mom Died, McCurdy, who is now a full-time writer, will also serve as the show's executive producer and showrunner. She was known for her role as Sam Puckett in two Nickeldeon shows, iCarly and the spinoff, Sam & Cat. Her 2022 memoir chronicled the emotional and physical abuse at the hands of her mother, Debra McCurdy, which lasted for almost two decades.

McCurdy's mother died in 2013 from breast cancer. Her memoir spent over 80 weeks on The New York Times Best Seller list.
