Kate Beckinsale is finding heartfelt ways to spread happiness amid her mother’s cancer diagnosis.
In a post shared to her Instagram account Wednesday, July 9, the Canary Black actress, 51, showed herself dressed in a hospital gown over her clothing as she sang to her mother, Judy Loe.

“Mary unfortunately is no longer with us but up until very recently even though they are in their now late 70s they would get together and still absolutely kill it,” Beckinsale wrote, adding, “I am a very poor substitute not being a very good singer but I want my mum's dearest and oldest friends in her hospital room with her.”
“So Fuz and Chris, please know I'm trying to keep the Four Teens going as best as I can from a distance and I love you both and how much support and love you are sending,” the Jolt actress continued.
Beckinsale called it “a mark of my mother's extraordinary capacity for love and deep respect for relationship history that her friendships with her early school friends are still so very current.”

In July 2024, Beckinsale said Loe, who did not appear on-camera in the video, had been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.

After taking a break from social media, the movie star explained what brought her back in late February.
“I wasn’t going to come back to Instagram,” she wrote in the caption at the time, “but anyone who has a spare prayer or magic or miracle or sunbeam please send it to my mama, my most extraordinary, warrior, generous, humble, loving, unique, irreplaceable Mama,” she wrote.

She also thanked Loe for being a “second parent” to her daughter Lily Sheen, 26, whom she shares with ex-boyfriend Michael Sheen.
Later in her tribute, Beckinsale called the English actress her "partner in crime," as well as a "teacher of how to lose one’s mind if someone rustles their sweets too loudly in the cinema , best friend , keeper of precious things ,including my heart."
