Kate Winslet Drops Out of Hulu Series ‘The Spot’


Kate Winslet will no longer star in the Hulu drama series “The Spot,” Variety has confirmed.
The project was originally announced in 2024 with Winslet set to lead the series and executive produce under her Juggle Productions banner. According to an individual with knowledge of the situation, Winslet’s departure came due to creative differences brought on by a change in the show’s creative direction.

Winslet has been a force to be reckoned with in TV in the past several years. She most recently starred in the HBO limited series “The Regime.” Previously, she starred in the HBO limited series “Mare of Easttown,” for which she won the Emmy Award for best actress in a limited series. She won in the same category in 2011 for the HBO series “Mildred Pierce.”
The official logline for “The Spot” states, “When a successful surgeon and her schoolteacher husband begin to suspect that she may be responsible for a child’s hit-and-run death, their quest for truth spirals into a web of mounting suspicion and dark secrets, testing their resolve and their relationship as they confront the possibility of hidden guilt and betrayal.”
Ed Solomon serves as writer, executive producer, and showrunner of “The Spot.” A24 is the lead studio in co-production with 20th Television.

The pair had worked together prior to that on the film “No Sudden Move” and the HBO series “Mosaic.” Solomon has also written hit films such as “Men in Black,” the “Bill & Ted” films along with Chris Matheson, and the “Now You See Me” films. He is repped by CAA.
