Last Surviving Monkees Member and Smash Mouth Meet in Epic 'I'm a Believer' Moment originally appeared on Parade.

"I'm a Believer" is a 1966 hit song written by Neil Diamond but recorded by The Monkees of the eponymous NBC sitcom. It is one of the Monkees' greatest hits and features Micky Dolenz on lead vocals.

Dolenz, 80, is the last surviving member of The Monkees, and on Friday, June 27, he had an epic random encounter with the guys from Smash Mouth, who covered "I'm a Believer" in 2001 for the Shrek movie soundtrack. The original version hit No. 1 on the Billboard charts, and the cover didn't do too shabby either — it hit No. 4 on the Billboard Adult Pop Airplay chart.
