Learn The Story Behind This Mad Max C7 Corvette

When you attend automotive events, you might run across some odd builds like this Mad Max C7 Corvette. We recommend talking to the owners of any interesting rides because they usually have equally as interesting stories about their vehicle.

Check out this Pontiac F50 bespoke car.

That’s certainly the case here, as YouTube channel Subdivision Auto uncovers. While you might already suspect this was a salvage title vehicle the guy bought and decided since it was thrashed to do something different, that actually isn’t what happened.

Yes, when he bought it the base Stingray had some collision damage, but it was only to the front bumper cover and one of the front fenders – that’s it.

He decided to start stripping off body parts anyway because he had been planning to do a Mad Max-inspired build for some time. They kept the rear body panels and didn’t strip the interior, opting to keep all the comforts in place.

But they did weld a cage around the entire sports car, incorporating a large wing into that exoskeleton. To attach that structure to the aluminum frame, they had to screw steel plates into the structure at strategic points, then weld the tubing onto those.

With 10 mm steel plates on the front end instead of the stock body panels, making it one tough cookie. Plus, they’ve been going through the structure for a while, beefing up any exposed weaknesses, essentially creating a Corvette tank.

They didn’t stop there, opting to also modify the powertrain. After all, adding all that steel inevitably makes the Corvette heavier. With a stroked engine, Procharger, and methanol injection added, it’s making about 875-whp.

The owner claims it doesn’t weigh as much as people think, saying it’s only about 4,100 lbs. But he also says that exoskeleton can crack concrete barriers at the edge of burnout pits, so this ‘Vette is truly one of a kind.
