Why is Orlando in the name of the Melbourne airport?

The name actually used to be Orlando Melbourne International Airport.

The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority sued its Orlando counterpart infederal court in March 2019 claiming trademark infringement and false advertising.Both airport boards agreed to settlethe lawsuit in March 2021 with the new name Melbourne Orlando International Airport.

"We’re not trying to be Orlando. Our service area and our customers don't stop at the city limits. This is not a city-specific element," Airport Executive Director Greg Donovan said at the time. “The term Orlandois a geographic identifier. And thatgeographic identifier isextremely important for people that are inbound from different areas."
