ST. LOUIS – Phineas and Ferb, the animated icons known for their boundless imagination and summertime antics, take on the Gateway City (well, sort of) in a new episode called “Meap Me In St. Louis.”

The episode is part of a long-awaited 40-episode fifth season, streaming exclusively on Disney+. It brings back a fan-favorite character, security agent alien Meap, for an intergalactic adventure. This time with a distinct St. Louis twist.

While the episode doesn’t deeply explore St. Louis’ culture or neighborhoods, it does feature the iconic Gateway Arch as the site of a buried alien treasure and the setting for a high-stakes space showdown.

Chicago Star calls St. Louis a ‘perfect weekend getaway’ from the Windy City

The episode begins with Meap suspecting that his nemesis, intergalactic criminal Mitch, is staging fake treasure-hunting tours to secretly fund his galactic empire. Meap tries to warn his alien alliance, but to no luck. Then, he turns to close-knit siblings Phineas, Ferb, and Candace for help.

Together, the trio creates a fake cultural sensation known as “Stabby Barf Pain,” a festival that attempts to lure Mitch by mashing up all four seasons into one wild celebration.

Later on, Candace and Meap follow a trail of clues that leads them to St. Louis. They discover that a treasure known as “Lost Treasure of Zachariah Yore” is buried beneath the Gateway Arch.

Soon after, chaos erupts at the Arch: Meap confronts Mitch, who first kidnaps their alley Baloony. Mitch then uses his ship to pull the Arch out of the ground and attempts to steal the treasure. Candace then tricks Mitch into activating a self-destruct feature on the ship, promptly leading to his capture.

All told, with Meap’s gadgets and tactical strategies from Candace, Phineas and Ferb, the team retrieves the treasure, thwarts Mitch’s plan and saves the Gateway Arch from a potential intergalactic invasion.

Unfortunately, the spotlight on St. Louis is limited outside of the Arch. But nonetheless, the episode still gives the city’s most famous landmark a memorable moment in animated sci-fi lore.
