Metal Fan Reveals She Owns 54 Different Versions of Classic Album Ahead of Band's Final Show originally appeared on Parade.

There are some die-hard Black Sabbath fans out there, many of whom will be at Villa Park on July 5, witnessing the metal pioneer's final show. One such fan is Jenn D'Eugenio, vice president of Gold Rush Vinyl, a woman-owned record pressing plant, and founder of Women in Vinyl, a nonprofit organization helping to create opportunities in the vinyl industry.

She also happens to have the distinction of being the biggest fan of Black Sabbath's Master of Reality. In fact, she owns 54 different pressings of the band's 1971 album.

"It's truly all killer, no filler, from start to finish," she says in a new feature on Discogs. "You can put that record on, and there's not a single skip. In the documentaries and everything, nobody talks about it enough."

"I guess, technically, it's so short it could've been an EP," she explains, "but I really think it's a perfect record. You have songs like 'Children Of The Grave' and 'Sweet Leaf', but then you have 'Solitude' and 'Orchid.' 'Orchid' is probably one of the most beautiful pieces of music."

D'Eugenio first owned a US Warner Bros copy. Then a German Vertigo arrived one day at the record store where her husband works. "I brought the copy home, put it on, and it sounded a little different," she said. "That started me on this crazy path of buying every single variant I could possibly find."

To help document her journey, D'Eugenio started the "Mistress of Reality" Instagram account, which showcases all the different variants (most of which are technically bootlegs). There's a Taiwanese edition with a light blue, Xeroxed cover.

The official Mexican pressing, on the Rock Power label, has a textured, gatefold sleeve (with a different picture of Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Bill Ward and Geezer Butler) on the inside.

"The alternate covers are really fascinating to me," she says. "It's really cool to see that and how people felt it needed to be marketed."

D'Eugenio will attend Black Sabbath's final show this Saturday. "It's going to be really emotional," she said. "I feel like it's time… I'm a person who feels you should end on a high. At this point, it's like a send-off, in a way."
