On Friday afternoon, Cruise celebrated the 35-year anniversary of "Days of Thunder" with a heartfelt message.

"I always love the fun and adrenaline of a racing film. Today marks two racing milestones for my friend Jerry Bruckheimer, the release of F1 and the 35 year anniversary to the day of our collaboration with the great Tony Scott on Days of Thunder," Cruise wrote on X. "Incredible to look back on this film today, and congratulations to Jerry, Brad, Joe and the whole F1 team on their release!"

Cruise also shared a handful of behind-the-scenes photos from "Days of Thunder."

Unsurprisingly, NASCAR fans had nothing but kind things to say about "Days of Thunder" officially reaching the 35-year mark.

"Days of Thunder meets F1. Everyone wants this Tom. Congratulations to Jerry," a second fan wrote.

"Tom, Your the MAN! Not because your film exploits, but because you seek adventure and live life for the gift it is. You take nothing for granted. High five to you Sir," another fan commented.

"DAYS OF THUNDER is a great and underrated Cruise classic, deserves more attention today," one of Cruise's followers said.

"Days of Thunder is an absolute classic and F1 will join those ranks alongside it. Amazing work on both films. Outstanding producer(s), filmmakers, crew, and A-list movie stars. Cruise, Pitt, Bruckheimer, Scott, Kosinski, Zimmer, et all. Now, if we can just get a racing film with Cole Trickle and Sonny Hayes together, the Bruckheimer racing film legacy will be complete," a social media user wrote.

Luckily for fans of "Days of Thunder," a sequel is in the works.

"Yeah, we’re thinking and talking about many different stories and what could we do and what’s possible,” Cruise told Today Show Australia. “It took me 35 years to figure out ‘Top Gun: Maverick’, so all of these things we’re working on, we’re discussing ‘Days of Thunder’ and ‘Top Gun: Maverick.’”

There's no doubt NASCAR fans will come out in full force to support a "Days of Thunder" sequel.
