The long wait is over for fans as “The Old Guard 2” has been officially released on Netflix.
Lead star Charlize Theron reprised her role as Andy (a.k.a. Andromache of Scythia) along with KiKi Layne as Nile Freeman and Chiwetel Ejiofor as James Copley.
The sequel also introduced a fresh-faced character through Uma Thurman. She took on the role of the antagonist, the mysteriously deadly figure Discord, who is among "the first of the immortals.”

While the 2020 film centered on their immortality, they now serve as protectors, defending the innocent, fighting for justice and facing new enemies.
However, the sequel also introduced a drastic shift in Andy’s circumstances as her immortality had come to an end.
Thanks to Booker, Andy's former right-hand man played by Matthias Schoenaerts, he chose to sacrifice himself and transfer his immortality to Andy, which also set the stage for the film’s cliffhanger.
Following its official release, the sequel didn't sit well with viewers after it received largely unfavorable reviews.

“The Old Guard 2’s real superpower is testing my patience,” one wrote on X.
“@netflix really made us wait 5 years for The Old Guard 2 just to hit us with a cliffhanger. At this point, they’re holding our patience hostage,” another disappointed audience member said.
“The Old Guard 2 was wack,” a commenter added.
Meanwhile, a viewer compared and rated both movies, giving the recent sequel a lower score due to its underwhelming ending.
“Old Guard 1 = 7/10. Old Guard 2 = 3/10. It was annoying. They wasted 5 years and couldn't do better than part 1. Booker was in exile in part 1 for 100 years and coming back after 5 years to tell us they met after 6 months, not 5 years or so. I'm not even talking about the half-baked end,” a user said.

Had high hopes for the sequel as I loved the first movie. This just felt like a huge set up for the third movie. Now it’s another wait.”
“No way I waited for The Old Guard 2 for 5 years just for it to end like that with no confirmation for a 3rd movie,” another disappointed viewer said.
Although the sequel ended with a cliffhanger, it remains unclear whether “The Old Guard 3” will be made, as it's still too early for any official confirmation.
