Olivia Rodrigo Brings Out the Cure’s Robert Smith at Glastonbury for ‘Friday I’m in Love’ and ‘Just Like Heaven’

Olivia Rodrigo surprised Glastonbury on Sunday night by bringing out the Cure’s Robert Smith during her headlining set.
“He’s perhaps the best songwriter to come out of England,” she said while introducing Smith. “He is a Glastonbury legend and a personal hero of mine. Would you please welcome, Robert Smith!” The Cure frontman then came out with his signature star-adorned black acoustic guitar, sporting a sparkly jacket. Together, the pair performed “Friday I’m in Love” and “Just Like Heaven” as the crowd sang along in glee.

Rodrigo delivered a powerhouse performance in her first time headlining the Pyramid Stage, opening with a bang with “Obsessed,” “Ballad of a Homeschooled Girl” and “Vampire.” Wearing a lacy white corseted dress and backed by a rocking band, Rodrigo flitted around the stage like she’d done it a thousand times before, oozing confidence and star power.

She then took fans back to the beginning with “Driver’s License,” sitting at the piano for the ballad. A slew of hits followed, including “Traitor,” “Bad Idea Right,” “Happier” and “Enough for You,” after which Smith came on stage,
The last bit of her set consisted of “So American,” which she dedicated to a British boy she “fell in love with” – she’s been dating English actor Louis Partridge since 2023, and the two even attended Pulp’s secret set together on Saturday – followed by “Jealousy, Jealousy,” “Favorite Crime” and “Deja Vu.” After a brief encore, Rodrigo came back out on stage in union jack shorts and a shirt that said “You know all the lyrics to Just Like Heaven,” a Cure reference. “Brutal,” “All-American Bitch,” “Good 4 U” and “Get Him Back” made for a perfect, cathartic ending as fireworks exploded in the night sky.
Rodrigo first played the U.K. festival back in 2022. During that performance, she made headlines when she brought out Lily Allen for a performance of her song “Fuck You” and dedicated it to the U.S. Supreme Court, which had recently decided to overturn Roe v. Wade.

So many women and so many girls are going to die because of this,” she said. “I wanted to dedicate this next song to the five members of the Supreme Court who have showed us that at the end of the day, they truly don’t give a shit about freedom. The song is for the justices: Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, Amy Coney Barrett, Brett Kavanaugh. We hate you! We hate you.”
The Grammy winner released her sophomore album, “Guts,” in September 2023 after skyrocketing to pop stardom with her debut record “Sour” in 2021. Now, fans are awaiting her next era.
In the meantime, she’s been keeping busy playing around the globe on her Guts World Tour, which extended into 2025 with additional dates in L.A.; Curitiba, Brazil; Mexico City; and Dublin, Ireland. She also played BST Hyde Park in London before heading to Glasto, and then will close out the tour with two dates in Manchester.
