Santa Barbara is getting decked out for the summer with a new partnership with luxury event and beach rental service, Bliss Beach.

Known for curating oceanfront parties and living room-style pop-ups on the sand, Bliss Beach has teamed up with the City of Santa Barbara for “The Barbara,” a European-inspired dayclub set along the sandy shores of East Beach. Dubbed a “proper beach club for the American Riviera,” The Barbara opened to the public in May, with dates running through the end of October.

Bliss Beach has long been known for its Instagram-worthy setups for intimate gatherings and large parties alike, offering everything from private cabanas to full brunch or dinner setups on the sand. While the company has dedicated spots in Manhattan Beach, Santa Monica and Malibu, among others, The Barbara extends Bliss Beach’s offerings to a new location just next to the historic Cabrillo Pavilion.

As with their other locations, guests will be able to choose from a variety of setups, from chairs and umbrellas, to full canopies with daybeds, tables, and even coolers and games. Pricing starts at $20/hour for a “Club Set,” which includes two chairs, an umbrella, side table with flowers, a cooler, two cups and two towels. An “Anacapa Cabana,” designed for up to 30 guests, costs $375/hour, and includes a row of club chairs, lounge chairs, an area rug, floor pillows and more. Bliss Beach says the Santa Barbara spot can also accommodate private parties and events for up to 40 people. Worth noting: locals can get 10% off their bill with proof of Santa Barbara I.D.

While guests are free to bring their own food and drink, The Barbara also offers a fully-staffed sundries shop, with snacks, beverages, sunscreen and other beach day accessories. Bliss Beach can also cater your event, with charcuterie boards, vegetable trays and other light bites available to pre-order. Other services include a communal lounge, dining areas and a kids play area.

Just like any other beach club, The Barbara offers attendants to help set-up your space, with a dedicated front desk that functions like a mini concierge on the sand. All beach attendant services are complimentary with every setup.

Bliss Beach says The Barbara was designed to “embody the beauty, charm, and spirit of Santa Barbara,” offering guests an “easy, beautiful, and comfortable way to enjoy the beach.”

“We wanted to create a place that brings the community together and feels like a natural extension of Santa Barbara and the American Riviera,” says Brian Jones, Founder of Bliss Beach and The Barbara. “It’s been such a pleasure working with the city and such a blast imagining a place where locals and visitors can go to kick back, celebrate, make new friends and sink into this gorgeous place we’re so lucky to call home.”

Bookings to The Barbara are available now at TheBarbara.co. The beach club is open to the public with no membership required. While walk-ins are available, reservations are encouraged, especially on busy weekends or for large groups. The Barbara is open daily from 11 a.m. to sunset.
