As the July 11 release of Superman approaches, starring David Corenswetas Superman and Rachel Brosnahanas Lois Lane, director James Gunn is giving fans a new way to connect with the film’s characters.
In a new collaboration with Spotify, Gunn curated individual playlists for each of the movie’s key characters, offering a deeper look into their personalities and inner lives.
“I’m obsessive about music so I am excited to have partnered with Spotify and created a character playlist: What the characters from Superman listen to, to post on Spotify,” Gunn announced in a video shared on his social media.

“In the movie, obviously Lois and Clark have conversations about music, so I knew where they were,” he explained. “Other people, I had to kind of come up with, the kind of music they would listen to, having never thought about it before.”
He admitted that Lois’s playlist is closest to his own music taste: “I actually think she has the best taste in music of everybody.”
The character Jimmy Olsen’s playlist, he noted, is full of songs about being noncommittal — though Jimmy himself wouldn’t realize that.
