After being dubbed the next Man of Steel, Superman star David Corenswet decided to reach out to a pair of names who had previously donned the red cape.

Corenswet revealed that after being cast for the role in James Gunn's upcoming Superman film, he exchanged letters with Henry Cavill andTyler Hoechlin. Cavill previously portrayed Superman in five movies, including Man of Steel (2013), Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), Justice League (2017) and Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021).

Corenswet explained that he exchanged letters with both actors about the role, and that they both responded in "Superman's way of doing it," as Beat 102 revealed.

"I had the pleasure of exchanging letters with two previous Supermans, Henry Cavill and Tyler Hoechlin," Corenswet explained. "Both of them, interestingly, sort of said in their own words, I'm not gonna try to give you any tips."

"And I think that's a very Superman thing. Superman's not so much for giving advice or dictating how other people should be. They really just conveyed to me an encouragement and a sense of, you know, have fun with it. Which I think is Superman's way of doing it too."

Corenswet added that both actors were "very encouraging" and said he's looking forward to meeting Cavill and Hoechlin.

"They were very encouraging and we had a lovely exchange, and I'm excited to meet them one day. It'll be great when we can all get in a room together," Corenswet concluded.
