The Bold and the Beautiful: Darcy Montagues Unfiltered Thoughts on Thomas Forresters Recast

The hit daytime drama The Bold and the Beautiful has recently undergone a significant change in its cast, as Matthew Atkinson steps in to play the role of Thomas Forrester, a character previously portrayed by Pierson Fode. This change has sparked a lot of discussion among fans and the actors involved, and Darcy Montague, who plays Steffy Forrester, has shared her thoughts on the new storyline and her excitement about working with Matthew Atkinson. Montague joined The Bold and the Beautiful in 2015 as the daughter of Liam and Hope Forrester. Throughout her time on the show, Steffy has been a driving force behind many of the storylines, but in recent years, she has had less to do. "I've been wanting to be used more, so it's great to be working a lot more and have something to really sink my teeth into," Montague shared with TV Insider. "For a long time, it's been mainly a business storyline, which has been really fun to play and work with Liam, but it's nice to have that other layer of emotion and relationship and connection to play as well." The actress was not told about the upcoming storyline or that her on-screen brother would be making a return until just a week or two before it happened. "I was super excited; it was such a great character, and it was a shame to not have the character there," Montague said. This will be the first time Montague has worked with co-star Matthew Atkinson, and she has heard great things about him from other cast members. Montague sent a direct message to fans that they are not trying to undo her previous co-star Pierson Fode's work but rather expand and show a new perspective. "I think the good thing that Josh has done is he's completely changed the character of Thomas. It doesn't feel like we're trying to have someone step in Pierson Fode's shoes. It's pretty much an entirely new character, so it's been interesting to have scenes because we have the history there, but it's a little bit different," Montague explained. The new Thomas will also have flashbacks added in that show interactions Steffy has had with Thomas in the past, five or six years ago. "It's almost a little bit of a new relationship again, in a way," Montague said. She continued to ask fans to give this story and interpretation of Thomas a chance, saying, "At the end of the day, it's not going to be the same Thomas. It's a completely different person, and I really hope that everybody gives Matthew a chance and tries to look at the character through new eyes, because it is a new person, and honestly, it's a new character."
