What to Watch This Weekend (June 28-29): 9 Best New Movies and Shows to Stream Now (Including the Quiet Return of A Popular Show!)

June is coming to an end but the summer of blockbusters and streaming hits is just getting into the thick of things.
This weekend, June 28-29, we've got two major movies coming to theaters that'll get the AI-fearing, action-seeking thriller out of you. The cold, air-conditioned halls of a movie theater not the place for you (wrong answer, but we digress)? We have seven streaming picks, including the latest seasons of two of Netflix and Hulu's biggest shows.
In other exciting news, Marvel is wrapping up its turbulent Phase 5 with another show, before it opens the doors into its new era with Fantastic Four: First Steps in just a few weeks (a sneak peek into a future What to Watch!). Over on Max, everyone's favorite detective, Mariska Hargitay, is peeling back the curtain on her real life.

F1
Formula 1 racing is known for having an extremely devoted fanbase — and this movie, which brings speedy cars to an IMAX screen, feeds right into that obsession.
Starring Brad Pitt as Sonny Hayes, a washed-up racer who's given a second chance in F1, alongside Damson Idris as Joshua Pearce, a talented rookie, F1 gives a never-before-seen close look at the training and machinations behind the sport.
Not sure how real it is? Well, let F1 star Lewis Hamilton assure you: he helped train Pitt and Idris for the roles — and the movie was shot at multiple real racing events across the world.

M3GAN 2.0
As the trailer so poignantly puts it, it's "this bitch" vs. "that bitch" in M3GAN 2.0. Everyone's favorite robot killer is back to slay —both literally and metaphorically — in the sequel to the 2022 horror movie.
This time, M3GAN isn't all bad — she just really, really wants to protect her creator, Gemma's (Allison Williams) niece, Cady (Violet McGraw). Which, after all, isn't that what she always wanted? So what if that means a few people get hurt (read: killed) in the process?
Now, however, she must protect Gemma as well against an even crazier robot killer, Amelia (Ivanna Sakhno).

Squid Game season 3
Netflix's biggest show is back for one last season — and it's just as gory and terrifying as its previous iterations.
Picking up after that shocking season 2 cliffhanger, Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) finds himself at his lowest point yet. But there's no time to despair as the Squid Game stops for no one — and he needs to keep going if there's an end in sight.

The Bear season 4
Yes, chef! Give us your refrigerator breakdowns, delicacy dishes and bubbling angst — every second counts, and we are seated and ready to watch The Bear season 4.

While Carmy becomes disillusioned with the business and attempts to right the wrongs of his past, Sydney continues to grapple with a life-changing decision.

Countdown
Move aside FBI, CSI and Law & Order: there's a new cop show in town and this time it's set in Los Angeles.

Trainwreck: Poop Cruise
Yeah this is just as crazy as it sounds — and the details are even poopier (pun very much intended). When a cruise set sail for Mexico in February 2013, no one expected the chaos that would ensue after an engine caught fire.
The worst consequence? There were no working bathrooms. Combine that with four extra days on the water and a rising desperation for land, perishable food and cell service and the only thing that can unfold is pure chaos. With a side of poop "lasagna."

My Mom Jayne
You know her as Olivia Benson, Law & Order: SVU's iconic detective, but Hargitay is also the daughter of another Hollywood legend: Jayne Mansfield.
In a journey to reclaim her family's story, Hargitay dug into her past, which led to a number of jaw-dropping discoveries — including the true identity of her father.

Ironheart
If you thought you'd seen the last of Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, you were mistaken. The Iron Man protégé is back, and this time, she wants to build something "iconic."

Smoke
These aren't your run-of-the-mill firefighters — Taron Egerton's Dave Gudsen and Jurnee Smollett's Michelle Calderone are dealing with something much more sinister: arson.
While the two are meant to work together to investigate a serial arsonist, soon Michelle starts turning her suspicions onto her partner, whose erratic behavior doesn't help his case.
